I founded David Marketing in 2001, based largely on the following beliefs: marketing requires creativity and a vivid sense of mission. It requires clear, unsentimental analyses of product and market, more discipline than you’d think, a little nerve coupled with the capacity to have fun. One needs an understanding of marketing theory (both the tried-and-true and flavor-of-the-month) as well as the applied lessons acquired from day-in, day-out experience.

As a full-time consultant, I work fast, am quite focused, and pride myself on over-delivery of services.

It’s true that I’ve learned a lot from marketing the arts, and that there is no more 
instructive laboratory:  at 8 pm when the curtain rises, the seats are either filled or empty.  The arts have provided me with a no-nonsense source of insight towards achieving results through the basic truths of identity, message, messenger and market.

I am a professor of graphic communication at Sacramento City College. As a professional graphic designer, art director and photographer since 1987, I have devoted my career to creating bold, innovative visual communication, dramatic imagery, and preaching the gospel of form and function.
Although the bulk of my experience is in publication design and art direction, my portfolio includes work in identity, marketing, web sites, menus, signage, environmental graphics, photography and illustration. My work has received over two dozen individual and group awards, and has been featured in both Print and How Magazines.
Now, as a full-time educator, I have taught software and digital design courses since 1999, and have lead or spoken at several design and publication industry seminars.

“I don’t really have a bio.  Most of my recent work is more impressive under the hood than by looking at it…  Superbowl’s FAQ engine, Abita Beer Back-office, double-blind study software for Tulane Public Health… and more.”David has expertise in Object Oriented Web Application Programming in Perl and PHP using mySQL. He also has developed database driven Flash animations and has written his own database abstraction layer. 

David currently serves as the primary programmer and/or web developer for New Orleans Tourism and Marketing, Audubon Institute, and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation. He has created custom communication, data collection, management, and reporting tools for all of these companies.
